Royal Mansour Marrakech: The Ultimate Private Luxury Riad Hotel Experience
Imagine having an opulent riad all to yourself with ultimate privacy and luxury for you and your friends/family?
Staying at a riad is a truly unique Moroccan guest experience. Riads are typically associated with historic former residences for wealthy families located in a cobweb of narrow alley ways in the middle of the ancient bustling & cloistered Medinas.
When King Mohammed VI of Morocco decided to build the Royal Mansour Marrakech hotel in 2010 as the most opulent hotel experience, he decided to build a unique Moroccan concept of 53 brand new stand-alone multi-storied riads, located in a lush orange scented resort setting in the trendy Hivernage area, as a rendezvous for A-list celebrities and royalty. Royal Mansour is an extravagant and immaculate resort hotel, crafted by more than 1,500 artisans over three years. The hotel exudes a palatial ambiance, where confidentiality is key, yet located in walking distance to the medieval Medina. All senses are touched.
You will not find any traditional hotel rooms here and the 4 gourmet restaurants are exclusively for hotel guests. All buildings at the resort are celebrating the rich history of Moroccan architecture, craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
Each riad is a three-story, one- to four-bedroom “jewel box”, each decorated in its own style with ornate traditional zellij (an ornate style of mosaic tile work made from chiseled tile pieces in geometric patterns), carved stucco and wooden screens, painted wooden ceilings, baccarat chandeliers, silks and brocades. Each riad has a private courtyard and roof terrace with a plunge pool and a fireplace.
Sheltered behind lush gardens a large swimming pool create a peaceful retreat. Service is discrete throughout, with butlers unpacking your bags on arrival and delivering service via underground passageways and secret doors.
This hotel resort is such a special Moroccan hotel experience created by a style-conscious king for the well-healed guest demanding exclusive privacy. I will admit I did not stay here, as I wanted to explore staying in a traditional historic riad, but I always try to visit amazing hotels when traveling to new destinations. I truly appreciate such a personal detailed showing by the resort.
