Zia is an accomplished design leader, specializing in designing hospitality interiors and branding strategy, with over 25 years of experience in high-end and lifestyle hospitality design. She has worked with top hotel brands worldwide, creating successful hotels and resorts, and has successfully managed international design teams and projects for a wide array of hotel owners and operators. She counts her best qualities as creativity, boldness, passion and style, while meticulous execution and perseverance remain the hallmarks of her approach.
Her journey began in Denmark, where she honed her craft and earned a Master’s in Architecture from the Royal Academy of Architecture. With roots in Europe, Zia has since traversed the globe, working on prestigious projects in South East Asia and Africa before settling in the United States.
Throughout her career, Zia has garnered a reputation for crafting successful hotels and resorts, leveraging her expertise in brand strategy, innovation, and luxury redefinition. Her designs are tailored to the evolving needs of new generations of business travelers, embodying a perfect blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Among her professional achievements, Zia is a licensed architect and former professor of architecture, having shared her knowledge and insights with students at renowned institutions such as the University of Southern California and the University of Las Vegas. She’s also an accomplished speaker, having graced the stages of esteemed conferences worldwide, including the Tomorrows Hotel Conference in Mauritius, and Thematic Design Conferences in Las Vegas and the Lighting International Expo.
When she’s not shaping the future of hospitality design, Zia indulges her passion for exploration and adventure. An avid traveler, she immerses herself in different cultures, capturing her experiences through words and pictures on her blog. Her adventurous spirit has led her to conquer personal milestones like climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and participating in the Fire Walk, demonstrating her resilience and determination in both her personal and professional pursuits.
