Designing a Vibrant Resort Hotel in The Bahamas

The Challenge:

A previous developer had left the raw unfinished neo classical building structures on a deserted island location without any vegetation or cultural context.

A lobby lounge with a vibrant vernacular of luxurious classical colonial architecture, overlaid by vibrant island culture

The Solution:

We were charged with creating a new sense of place that fulfilled every expectation of a discerning traveler visiting a former colonial island. We created a new brand story inspired by the glaringly bright, sugar-fine sand and crystal-clear aquamarine waters, interwoven with the vibrant vernacular and culture of other islands in the Caribbean, to add a playful layer to the serene neoclassical colonial architecture.

The All Day Dining Restaurant and guestrooms offer stunning ocean and pool views, while celebrating a new vibrant island culture

The design of the hotel interiors and the palette of the resort was designed to become an exploration of a rich fictitious colonial vibrant architecture in support of what nature presented to us. We created a new narrative with each space telling a new story, from the lobby, 3 restaurants, spa and conference center. It became a supreme and vibrant resort. enveloped by nature’s beauty. Years ago during a downturn of the economy the resort was sold, and is now a Sandals Resort.
